  <p>The BYDFi contract uses the "mark price" to correspond to the unrealized profit and loss. The mark price is the estimated fair value of the contract and is different from the "final price" of the contract. The mark price is used to prevent unfairness and forced liquidation caused by market fluctuations. Also, it helps prevent price manipulation.</p>

  <p>The mark price consists of two parts: the index price and the moving average (MA) basis.</p>

  <p>The moving average base price is used as the second part of the mark price calculation. It helps smooth out price data over a specified time period by creating an average price that updates in real time. This approach reduces the likelihood of unfair and unnecessary liquidation when markets are highly volatile.</p>

  <p>Mark Price = Median * (Price 1, Price 2, Contract Price)<br>Price 1 = Index Price * [1 + Funding Rate * (The Time Until the Next Funding Rate Charge (Hour) / 8) ]<br>Price 2 = Index Price * Moving Average (30 mins) * Moving Average Line (30 mins) = Moving Average Line [(Bid 1 + Ask 1 ) / 2 - Index Price]<br>(Take 30 minutes as an interval, and sample values every minute.)<br>* Median: Take the middle of the three numbers (Price 1, Price 2, Contract Price), e.g., Price 1 &lt; Price 2 &lt; Contract Price, then the Mark Price will use Price 2 as a basis.</p>

  <p>Please note that when the spot price and the mark price deviate greatly due to possible extreme market conditions or price source deviations in the market, BYDFi will take additional protection measures, and at this time, "Price 2" will be directly used as the mark price.</p>

This article will explain what a trailing stop is, how to use it, and its importance in trading strategies.<br><br><strong>What is a Trailing Stop</strong><br>A trailing stop is a flexible stop-loss order that automatically adjusts as the market price moves in a favorable direction. When the price rises or falls by a certain distance, the trailing stop adjusts the stop-loss price accordingly. However, if the market price moves in the opposite direction, the trailing stop does not move down, thereby protecting existing profits.<br><br><strong>How Does a Trailing Stop Work</strong><br>A trailing stop works by setting a tracking distance (e.g., a fixed amount or percentage). <br>Here is how it operates:</p>
  <ul>
   <li>When the market price moves in a favorable direction, the stop-loss price is adjusted upward or downward in line with the tracking distance.</li>
   <li>When the market price moves in the opposite direction, the stop-loss price remains unchanged.</li>
   <li>Once the market price reaches the trailing stop price, the system automatically closes the position to protect the trader’s profit or limit losses.</li>
  </ul>
  <p>Trailing stop is different from a normal close position and allows to set a fixed distance to close the position based on the latest price, which is convenient for the user to manage the position for stop loss or lock profit. <br>Here is an example.<br>A user opens a long position in BTC/USDT with 20,000 USDT and sets a trailing stop with a distance of 600 USDT.<br>If the latest market price does not exceed 20,000 USDT, the trailing stop will be like a stop loss at 19,400 USDT.<br>If the latest market price rises to 21,000 USDT, the trailing stop price will be adjusted upward by 1,000 USDT to 20,400 USDT.<br>The trailing stop mechanism will only be triggered if the latest market price retreats by more than 600 USDT ( 22000 to 21400 wavelength).</p>
